Casper Ghosts News Release

Casper, Wyo- The Casper Ghosts and the Colorado Rockies are pleased to announce an extension of their player development contract through the 2010 season. The Casper Ghosts have been a Pioneer League affiliate of the Rockies since 2001 when the franchise relocated to Casper from Butte, Montana.

The Ghosts, formerly known as the Casper Rockies, have seen several players get their start in Casper and make their way up the ladder to Coors Field. Ubaldo Jiminez, Dexter Fowler, Manny Corpas, and Ian Stewart are just some of the young Rockies stars whose professional careers began in Casper.

"We are excited to continue to be a part of the Rockies minor league family," Ghosts owner Kevin Haughian said on Tuesday.

"The Rockies have been a big part of why we have been so successful here in Casper and it has been exciting for our fans to see so many of our former players make it to the major leagues. This partnership is a perfect fit for both organizations and we couldn't be happier to see it continue," Haughian remarked.

Colorado Rockies Director of Player Development Marc Gustafson added why he felt the two organizations worked so well together. "We are very proud to continue our relationship with the Casper Ghosts. The fans of the region have treated our players and staff like family and have showed tremendous support for the Rockies organization over the past eight years."

The Ghosts will return to the field in June 2009.
