June 9, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Georgia Gwizzlies News Release

Macon, GA. The ABA Georgia Gwizzlies will renew the contract of 5'11 point guard Behdad Sami. The "slam dunking" Sami just returned from Turkey where he averaged 17 points and 6 assists. Prior to joining the Gwizzlies for the upcoming season, he will play for the Iranian National Team in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. "This young man has a great attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn," stated owner/GM Embry Malone. "That's why we are glad he is coming back to play for us. Atlanta is about 70 miles north of Macon and has the second largest Iranian-American population in the US." For more information, email gwizzlies@msn.com or visit www.abalive.com. -

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
