June 23, 2018 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Geneva Red Wings News Release
GENEVA, N.Y. - New York State Senator Pamela Helming and 1958-1959 Geneva Red Legs Outfielder Harry Panero joined the fans at McDonough Park on June 22nd to throw out a couple of opening pitches to commemorate McDonough Park's 60th Anniversary and "Senator Pam Helming Night." Their presence may have unknowingly fueled the Red Wings to a 17-4 dominating win over the Newark Pilots! The Geneva fans that attended "Pam Helming Night" and the 60th Anniversary Celebration gave the Wings the motivation they needed to catch the big win at the end of the night.
The winning pitcher for Geneva was #34 Hayden Seig, who pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 of the Pilots 4 runs, while Pitcher #4 Trace Holder (Southern Alabama) closed the game pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Newark Pilots Pitcher #13 Matthew Walczak (Lincoln Memorial Univ.) took the loss on the mound.
Leading the way for the Red Wings was #6 Nick Carnevale (Brookdale) who had 4 hits, a 2-run home run and a whopping 6 RBI's. Other key players on the win were #26 Langston Livingston (St. Josephs Univ.) who had a 3-run home run to nab 3 RBI's, #11 Justin Barr (Central Alabama CC) had 2 hits for 2 RBI's and #31 Nick LaBrasca (Youngstown State) with 3 RBI's.
Geneva's 17 runs in this contest was their highest total offensive production thus far in the 2018 season. The 17-runs were split accordingly: 2 runs in the first inning, 4 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, 6 runs in the seventh inning and 1 run in the eighth.
Geneva moves to 8-9 with the win tonight against Newark and will play home again against the Pilots on Sunday, June 24th at 4:05pm. The Wings travel to Jamestown to take on the Jammers tomorrow, June 23rd at 7:05pm.
