Generals Win Series Finale over Biscuits, 4-2

MONTGOMERY, ALA. (MAY 27, 2012) - Carter Capps struck out Ty Morrison with the bases loaded in the ninth, sealing Jackson's 4-2 win over Montgomery Sunday. The Generals won the finale of the series at Riverwalk Stadium, moving 1 1/2 games ahead in the North Division.

On Sunday, the Generals jumped out to a 2-0 lead by scoring a run in the first inning on a double from Nick Franklin that scored Francisco Martinez. Denny Almonte singled home Gabriel Noriega in the top of the fifth inning.

Montgomery tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth with a 2-RBI single off the bat of Omar Luna.

The Generals re-took the lead in the top of the sixth inning on a 2-run home run from Chris Pettit. The second homer of the year for Pettit placed Jackson on top 4-2.

Generals' starter Taijuan Walker (4-1) won his first game since April 27 on Sunday dealing five innings and allowing just two runs on six hits, striking out three and walking two. Bobby LaFromboise tossed 2.1 scoreless inning and earned a hold and Carter Capps earned his fifth save with 1.2 shutout innings, striking out three.

Eric Campbell walked again on Sunday extending his on-base streak to 20 consecutive games. Denny Almonte, Jesus Sucre and Chris Pettit recorded two hits each in the Jackson win.

The Generals begin a five-game homestand against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Monday night at Pringles Park, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. CT. LHP Danny Hultzen (4-3, 1.78) will take the mound for Jackson against RHP Tim Gustafson (2-1, 4.62) for Montgomery.
