
Generals Storm Pensacola with 4-2 Win in Opener

PENSACOLA, FLA. (JUNE 26, 2012) - Jackson stormed into Pensacola on Tuesday an took the opener of the five-game set over the Wahoos, 4-2. The Generals are a season-best 16-games above .500, 46-30 on the season and 4-2 in the second half. Jackson won Tuesday despite stranding 14 runners on base and finishing 3-for-18 with runners in scoring position. Nate Tenbrink led the Generals by finishing 4-for-5 at the dish.
Leadoff man Nate Tenbrink blasted the second pitch of the game over the right-field wall for his first homer of the season. Jackson led 1-0.
Stefen Romero added a sacrifice fly in the third to make it 2-0. With the bases loaded in the sixth, Tenbrink and Leury Bonilla collected RBI singles to give Jackson a 4-0 advantage.
Pensacola did trim the lead in half by scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Jackson starter Steve Garrison (5-3) posted his third straight quality start in the win, firing six innings, allowing one run on four hits. Garrison struck out two and walked two. Mauricio Robles struck out three over 1.1 innings pitched to get a hold. Carter Capps earned the save for the second straight day tossing a scoreless ninth, striking out two. Capps has not allowed an earned run in his last 24.1 innings pitched.
Tenbrink was 4-for-5 in the game with the homer, two RBI and two runs scored. Stefen Romero picked up his fifth multi-hit game in six games and has hit in all six Jackson games. Romero was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kalian Sams finished 2-for-3 with a double and run scored.
The Generals continue their five-game series with Pensacola on Wednesday night at Maritime Park, with first pitch at 7:00 p.m. RHP Forrest Snow (0-1, 4.09) makes his third Jackson start Wednesday and will be opposed by Pensacola LHP Tony Cingrani (1-1, 2.95).
