Generals Add Former ACC Player of the Year Brad Miller from A+ High Desert

JACKSON, TENN. (JULY 23, 2012) - The Seattle Mariners and Jackson Generals announce the following roster moves. INF Brad Miller has been promoted from Class-A Advanced High Desert to Jackson and to make room, INF Gabriel Noriega has been transferred from Jackson to High Desert.

MILLER, 22, joins the Generals as one of the hottest hitters in the Seattle Mariners organization. Miller was batting .339 in 97 games, with 33 doubles, 5 triples, 11 home runs, 56 RBI and 19 stolen bases for the first half California League South Champion Mavericks. Miller was also selected to the 2012 California League All-Star team. He was drafted by the Mariners in the 2nd round of the 2011 draft out of Clemson University. Miller received the 2011 Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award and was named a Louisville Slugger First-Team All-America by Collegiate Baseball at shortstop. Miller was also named the 2011 ACC Player-of-the-Year, leading the conference in batting average (.395) and on-base percentage (.489). He is also a two-time member of the USA National team (2009 & 2010).

NORIEGA, 21, played in 84 games with the Generals batting .208, with 4 doubles, no home runs and 16 RBI. Noriega was signed as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2007 by Mariners.
