Dayton Gems News Release

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Gems, proud member of the Central Hockey League announced today that they will have four representatives from their staff taking part in the 5th Annual Pat Rupp Memorial Dayton Golf Tournament which is being held on Monday, July 26, at 1:00 pm at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the children and family services of Catholic Social Services of Miami Valley (Catholic Social Services is celebrating their 90th anniversary this year, for more information about this organization log onto to their website at www.cssmv.org).

"When CSSMV started this tournament five years ago, they asked if they could name it after Pat," said Chair and Gems Co-Owner Kathy Rupp. "The goal was always to help raise money for children because they have played such an important role in all of our lives."

David Hart of StartSkydiving.com will officially begin the tournament festivities with a dramatic jump onto the first tee. Golf team members from area high schools will also demonstrate their skills as they hit team mulligans. The tournament is a scramble format consisting of four members on each team (also known as a foursome). Each team member hits their own shot and then all the team members play their ball from the best shot. The low combined team score will determine the winners of the tournament, which consists of a Men's and Women's Division.

New Head Coach and General Manager Brian Gratz will team up with Guy Trottier, the Gems Director of Hockey Operations, Andy Sanzotta, the Gems Director of Community and Media Relations and Jerry Whetstone of the Kettering Medical Center (official Medical provider to the Dayton Gems). Gems Trainer Bryan Rogers will team up with his father and two brothers completing the Gems representation in the tournament.
