QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy Gems scored three runs in the seventh and two in the eighth en route to a 6-2 victory over the Dubois County Bombers at Quincy Stadium.

Drew Carlile's three-run homer off Spencer Sapp in the seventh turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead for Quincy, and Bronson Smith earned the win as he retired the final Bomber of the seventh and all three he faced in the eighth.

Sapp took the loss for Dubois County, pitching the final two and two-thirds innings for the Bombers and allowing five runs and three hits and two walks.

Sapp had relieved starter Justin Kruse, who made his debut for the Bombers and surrendered one run on one hit and five walks through five and a third; Kruse also struck out two.

Charlie Kapala started for Quincy and allowed two runs - one earned - through six and two-third innings on seven hits and three walks while striking out three.

Seth McWilliams pitched a scoreless ninth to close out Dubois County.

The two teams are now locked at second place in the Western Division with matching 5-5 records and battle again Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
