'Gators Jeremy Boyer Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (January 9, 2013) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Jeremy Boyer of the Louisiana IceGators is the Easton Player of the Week for December 31-January 6.

Boyer, who just signed with Louisiana on December 30, recorded two goals and two assists in a sweep of first-place Fayetteville as the IceGators went 3-0 for the week.

After being held scoreless in a 6-3 New Year's Eve win over the Mississippi RiverKings, Boyer recorded back-to-back one-goal, one-assist nights as the IceGators defeated the FireAntz 4-3 and 3-2 last weekend. The wins improved Louisiana's league-best home record to 12-4-1.

Boyer, who hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has six points in five games with Louisiana after starting the season with the CHL's Quad City Mallards. Before turning pro, Boyer spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Seattle and Saskatoon. His best season in major junior came in 2008-09 when he scored 21 goals and added 35 assists for Seattle.
