
Gary Steelheads Announce Signing of Barlow, Cunningham and Blackburn

GARY, Indiana (April 6, 2007) - The Gary Steelheads have announced the signing of three more players for the upcoming 2007 USBL season. The players are point guard Eddy Barlow, forward Ray Cunningham and swingman Jermaine Blackburn.
Barlow was a standout performer for the 2006-2007 CBA Champion Yakama Sun Kings, being named MVP of the title series with Albany. He scored 45 points, handed out 22 assists and picked up 7 steals in the Sun King's three-game sweep of the Patroons. Prior to that, Barlow played for Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun in Mexico, where he averaged 16.8 ppg and shot .453 from three point range. A product of Sam Houston State, Barlow also played with Idaho of the CBA and Macon of the WBA. In 2004, he played with the Harlem Globe Trotters.
Forward Ray Cunningham finished 9th in scoring and 6th in rebounding in the CBA last season. Playing for the Minot Skyrockets, Cunningham averaged 17.4 ppg, while grabbing 7.4 rpg. He was also 6th in the league in offensive rebounding at 2.5 rpg, earning a position in the 2007 CBA All Star Game. He also was named to the CBA's All-Defensive Team. Cunningham made the All-ABA 2nd Team in 2005-2006, leading the Maryland Nighthawks to the ABA Quarterfinals. He has also played for Kentucky in the ABA and Rome in the WBA. Cunningham is a college product of Murray State.
Swingman Jermaine Blackburn combines forward size with guard quickness and ball handling ability. He played for the Idaho Stampede in the NBDL last season, averaging 7.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg and 1.8 apg. He played two additional seasons with Idaho, when the franchise competed in the CBA. During the 2005-2006 season, Blackburn played in Australia with the West Sydney Razorbacks. He averaged 18 ppg in 11 games. Blackburn played collegiately at Boise State, where he was named to the WAC All-Tournament Team in 2005.
