Garcia Hits Career Milestone

April 21, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

New York Dragons QB Aaron Garcia reached another career milestone on Friday night, becoming the fourth player in AFL history to throw for over 39,000 yards. Garcia joins former AFL star Andy Kelly, Sherdrick Bonner of the Chicago Rush and Clint Dolezel of the Dallas Desperados as the only QBs to reach that mark.

Garcia needed just 50 yards going into Friday night's game against the Tampa Bay Storm to reach 39,000 for his career. He did that and more, completing 22 of 26 passes for 254 yards and seven touchdowns in the Dragons 66-47 win. In his career, Garcia has now thrown for 39,153 yards and 833 touchdowns.

After injuries forced Garcia off to a slow start, he has returned to top form in the Dragons past four games. The Dragons are 3-1 in that span, the one loss a two point heartbreaker vs. the undefeated Dallas Desperados. In those four games, Garcia has completed 95 of 140 passes for 1,037 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Injuries have plagued Garcia throughout much of the past two seasons, but during the Dragons current hot streak, he has proven he is still one of the best.

Garcia and the Dragons look to continue their three-game win streak this weekend when they return home for a rematch with the Cleveland Gladiators. Cleveland defeated the Dragons 61-49 in the season opener. Garcia left that game early in the second quarter with a sprained knee. At 4-3, the Gladiators are currently a half game ahead of the Dragons in the division race. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on MSG Plus with Jonathan Coachman, Wayne Morris and Tina Cervasio.

Kickoff is set for Saturday, April 26th at 7 pm. To purchase tickets, call 1-866-AFL-TIXX or send an email to ticketinfo@newyorkdragons.com.
