GameDay: LouCity vs. Ottawa Fury
July 14, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville City FC arrived in Canada yesterday to prep for a Sunday afternoon showdown with Ottawa FC, a team playing strong soccer and rising in the Eastern Conference table.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa. The game will be broadcast on WBKI in Louisville and streamed on ESPN+. The radio broadcast with Kevin Kernen and Jeff Greer will be on 840 WHAS.
After making it through customs, LouCity had a quick turn-around training session at Carleton University Saturday night. After the session, LouCity coach John Hackworth spoke about his team's pre-game preparations.
"We were able to get out on the training field, shake our legs out a little bit," Hackworth said. "We were able to break a sweat a little bit and go through some last-minute tactical ideas on how we want to approach Ottawa (Sunday)."
Hackworth and Louisville City had a spirited week of training after beating rival Nashville SC last Saturday. In Ottawa, they face a foe that has been on a good run of play for more than a month.
LouCity beat Ottawa 1-0 back in April, but the Fury only lost one match since then.
"We have to start off better than we have been starting off," Hackworth said. "We need to start off well and then if we can impose our will on them, that's the key. They are a team that wants to play so we need to take away all that time and space they are looking for."
LouCity and Ottawa Fury kick off at 2 p.m. ET. Back in Louisville, City fans are gathering at HopCat on Bardstown Rd. for the Official Watch Party.
