Game Preview: Eagles Head West for Three Game Road Trip

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte Eagles kicked off a 6 game away stand with a 2-0 win on Saturday April 26th against the Wilmington Hammerheads. Charlotte's two goals were tallied by Drew Yates and Wells Thompson while goalkeeper Brock Duckworth, who played collegiately for UNC-Wilmington and one season for the Hammerheads, recorded a shutout in the game.

The Eagles now head to the West Coast to face Arizona United, LA Galaxy II and the Orange County Blues. The Eagles will face Arizona United on Saturday May 3rd at the Peoria Sports Complex with kickoff coming at 10:30 pm EST. Arizona United, located in Phoenix, is enjoying their inaugural season in USL PRO. They are currently sitting in 10th place in the USL PRO Standings with four points through three games. United has a 1-1-1 record and will wrap up a four game season-opening home stand against the Eagles.

After facing Arizona, Charlotte will head to Los Angeles to face the LA Galaxy II, Los Dos are the first MLS team to move an entire reserve team to USL PRO. Galaxy II is currently sitting in 2nd place in the USL PRO Standings with 14 points after playing seven games. They lead the league with 15 goals for en route to a 4-1-2 record. Galaxy II will head east after hosting the Eagles to take on the Dayton Dutch Lions on Saturday, May 10th.

Charlotte will close out their West Coast road trip in Orange County when the face the OC Blues who were rebranded this season from the LA Blues. The OC Blues have three former Charlotte Eagles on their roster with Gibson Bardsley, Stephen Okai and William Prado. Bardsley played for the Eagles in 2012 while Okai and Prado were part of Charlotte's 2013 USL PRO runner-up season. The OC Blues currently sit one place below the Eagles in the standings in 9th.

The Eagles return home Wednesday, May 14th to face the Carolina Dynamo in the second round of the US Open Cup at Queens Sports Complex. Charlotte will return to home league action on May 31st as they host the Wilmington Hammerheads.
