Game Preview: Dallas Wings at Washington Mystics (Game #31)- August 5

Washington, D.C. - The Dallas Wings (19-11) are back on the road to take on the Washington Mystics (16-12) for the second time in the last six days and final time during the 2026 regular season on Wednesday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. CT at CareFirst Arena. The game will air locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on KFAA with Ron Thulin (play-by-play) and Fran Harris (analyst) on the call.

The Wings enter Wednesday's contest coming off an 83-63 home win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday evening. Dallas picked up their first home victory over Connecticut since August 12, 2023, and their first double-digit win since July 10 against the Toronto Tempo.

Jessica Shepard and Arike Ogunbowale each notched 15 points on the evening to lead the Wings in scoring. Shepard added a team-high nine rebounds and also was credited with two assists and one steal. Ogunbowale recorded five rebounds, a team-high five assists and one steal in 22 minutes of action. Ogunbowale shot 7-9 from the field for a career-high .778 clip.

The 2026 regular season series between Dallas and Washington is tied at one game apiece, setting up a decisive series finale on Wednesday night. In their meeting last Friday night in DC, the Mystics edged the Wings, 81-75. Paige Bueckers scored a team-high 23 points while Arike Ogunbowale had 20, but Washington gathered crucial rebounds and made clutch free-throws in the closing moments of the contest to clinch the win.

The Wings will seek their first road win over the Mystics since August 30, 2023, in Wednesday's showdown, having dropped the last four regular season meetings in DC. Dallas will also be looking to secure the regular season series against Washington for the first time since 2023, when it won the season matchup 3-1.

Fudd Breaking Records... Rookie guard Azzi Fudd knocked down four three-pointers in Sunday's win over Connecticut, bringing her career total to 61 and setting a new Wings rookie single-season record for made three-pointers. Fudd is also closing in on two more franchise rookie marks, needing just nine steals and 15 blocks to break those records as well.

Picking Up the Defense... The Sun's 63 points on Sunday night marked the second-lowest point total by a Wings opponent this season. Dallas has held opponents under 70 points on four occasions this season and moved to 4-0 on the year when doing so with the win.

All In on Assists... Seven Wings players recorded at least two assists in Sunday's 83-63 victory over Connecticut, marking the fourth time this season Dallas has had seven or more players reach that mark. Four of those seven players came off the bench, the most bench players for the Wings to tally two or more assists in a game this season.

League Leaders... As of games played through August 3, Wings forward Jessica Shepard is currently first in rebounds per game (11.8) and fourth in field goal percentage (58.2%) across the WNBA. Azzi Fudd leads all rookies in steals per game (1.7) and total three-point field goals made (61). The Wings as a team are second in assists per game (22.3) and third in field goals made per game (33.6).
