
Game Preview: Bemidji at Wichita Falls

Bemidji, MN - The Bemidji Axemen will be traveling to Wichita Falls, Texas this Saturday to take on the Nighthawks. The kickoff for the first game between the two teams will be at 7:00 p.m. at the Kay Yeager Coliseum.
Wichita Falls has started off their inaugural season in the Indoor Football League with four straight loses, two of which were close games versus the Nebraska Danger (4-0). The Nighthawks last game was a 58-48 loss to the Tri-Cities Fever (2-2). The leading passer for the Nighthawks is Marcus Jackson who is 42-96 for 443 yards and eight touchdowns. The running attack which is fifth in the IFL is also led by Jackson who has 110 rushing yards on 28 attempts and three touchdowns. Jefferson Hayes leads Wichita Falls with 17 receptions for 199 receiving yards. Hayes averages 49.8 receiving yards per game and 11.7 receiving yards per reception. DeMarkus Washington leads the team with four receiving touchdowns and also averages 14.7 yards per kickoff return which includes a 50-yard touchdown.
Bemidji comes into the game after winning two close competitions. After defeating the Billings Wolves in overtime, Bemidji traveled to Green Bay to defeat the Blizzard with a touchdown in the last seconds of the game. Quarterback EJ White is now the starter after Terrance Owens signed with the San Diego Padres. White was 16-27 for 178 passing yards and four touchdown passes versus Green Bay, White also rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown. White's season statistics are 34-62 for 367 passing yards and 8 passing touchdowns in two games. The Axemen boast the league's third best rushing offense which is led by reigning IFL Offensive Player of the Week, Mulku Kalokoh. Kalokoh scored five total touchdowns and had 246 all-purpose yards (109 rushing, 20 receiving,117 kickoff return) versus Green Bay. Kalokoh's 191 rushing yards and 47.8 yards per game are each second in the IFL in their respective categories. The Bemidji offense is also tied for most first downs in the league. The Axemen's air attack is led by Ryan Balentine who has brought in 27 receptions for 230 yards and three receiving touchdowns and also by Josh Jarboe who has 234 receiving yards on 23 receptions and has four receiving touchdowns. Kalokoh is averaging 20.0 yards per return with two touchdowns including a 51 yarder.
