San Diego Sunfire News Release
SAN DIEGO - The SunFire goes for it's second straight win at home taking on the Knighthawks of Arizona at La Jolla High School Stadium on Saturday, September 27th 7:05 p.m. PT. Check below for the complete game schedule.
The SunFire are fresh from a bye week, after handily beating the Temecula Scorpions 36 to 14 at La Jolla High on September 13th. With a challenging first half of the season behind them, the SunFire has proved to be a much better team on the field than on paper. San Diego has lost its four games to the league's three toughest teams. The second half of the campaign the SunFire will face mainly teams with worse records. One of those is Saturday's opponent, the Arizona Knighthawks.
The Knighthawks are in its 2nd season of WPFL football. Arizona's "other" team, has held its own, picking up its first win of the campaign by way of a surprising 14 â 6 victory over the Los Angeles Amazons last Saturday night. The Knighthawks are another franchise better on field than on paper. This marks the first ever meeting between the SunFire and the AZ Knighthawks and 1 of 2 set for the season. The second game will take place in Arizona on October 11th.
