Game dates, times announced for Blizzard playoff series in Borne Cup Tourney

(Alexandria, MN) The Minnesota Blizzard Junior "A" Hockey team has announced the dates and game times for its best-of-five Borne Cup Semifinal Series with the Fargo-Moorhead Jets. The first two games will be played at the John Carlson Coliseum in Fargo. The third game of the Borne Cup Semifinals will be played at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. The fourth game, if needed, will also be held at the Runestone Center. If the Borne Cup Semifinal series between the Blizzard and the Jets is extended to a deciding fifth game, the contest would be played at the John Carlson Coliseum.

Any Borne Cup Semifinal playoff game played in Alexandria will start at 7:30 PM. Note that this is a different start time from Blizzard home games, during the 2004-05 regular season. Details on the game dates and times are, as follows:

Minnesota vs. Fargo-Moorhead, Borne Cup Semifinals (Best-of-five format):

Game #1- Friday, 4/1/05: Blizzard vs. Fargo-Moorhead @ Fargo, 7:00 PM

Game #2- Saturday, 4/2/05: Blizzard vs. Fargo-Moorhead @ Fargo, 7:00 PM

Game #3- Wednesday, 4/6/05: Fargo-Moorhead vs. Blizzard @ Alexandria, 7:30 PM

Game #4 (if necessary)- Thursday, 4/7/05: Fargo-Moorhead vs. Blizzard @ Alexandria, 7:30 PM

Game #5 (if necessary)- Saturday, 4/9/05: Blizzard vs. Fargo-Moorhead @ Fargo, 7:00 PM

The Borne Cup playoffs involves the four teams in the North American Hockey League's Western Division that compiled the highest point totals during the regular season. In addition to the Blizzard series versus the Fargo-Moorhead Jets, Billings will meet Helena, in the other Borne Cup Semifinal.

The team that wins the Borne Cup will advance to the NAHL National Tournament, to be held the week of April 26th in Bismarck, North Dakota. The four teams that make up the field for the NAHL National Tournament will play for the trophy known as the Robertson Cup.

Minnesota compiled a 28-24-4 record in the regular season, to place fourth, in the NAHL West with 60 points. Fargo-Moorhead won the NAHL West Championship in the regular season, compiling a 36-17-3 mark for 75 points.
