The 2002 MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy (3-6-7, 16 pts - 4th Western Conference) resume their MLS schedule this Wednesday July 30 vs. the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center. The July 30 game vs. Columbus is the fourth of six consecutive league matches at The Home Depot Center for the Galaxy and the first of two in a row against the Crew, who will also visit the premier venue for soccer in the Americas on Saturday, August 9. Sandwiched between the two Galaxy-Crew matches at The Home Depot Center will be the 2003 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game, on August 2, when the MLS All- Stars battle Club Deportivo Guadalajara of Mexico at 12:30 p.m. (PT) on ABC.

X GAMES SUPERSTARS HEAD TO THE HOME DEPOT CENTER WEDNESDAY NIGHT: The Los Angeles Galaxy will team up with ESPN to bring fans a taste of the X Games prior to Wednesday's game vs. the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center. Festivities begin at 5:00 pm. when an X Games bicycle stunt team will perform in Parking Lot 12. Activities move inside the stadium gates from 6:00 - 7:00 pm for an autograph session with X Games veteran in-line skaters Fabiola DaSilva and Bucky Lasek in the stadium's main plaza. DaSilva and Lasek will then be on hand for the ceremonial coin toss just before the start of the game. In addition, fans attending the autograph session will be encouraged to enter a drawing to win a BMX bicycle or one of 25 skate decks.

DRIVE WEDNESDAY TO BENEFIT LOS ANGELES REGIONAL FOOD BANK: The Galaxy, in partnership with Southern California Edison, are holding a food drive benefiting the LA Regional Food Bank, whose mission is to mobilize the resources of the community to fight hunger, the causes of hunger, and problems related to hunger. The Food Bank feeds over 350,000 people each week and your donation will assist them in this endeavor. All fans are asked to either donate $5.00 or bring four (4) canned food items to the Galaxy booth located at each entrance of The Home Depot Center prior to the July 30th game. Fans will receive a coupon for $2.00 off a ticket to the Galaxy game on August 9th against the Columbus Crew and be entered into a drawing for a soccer ball signed by members of the Galaxy.

COLUMBUS GAME A LOS ANGELES TIMES FAMILY NIGHT: The Galaxy returns to MLS action on Wednesday July 30, 2003 when the Columbus Crew comes to The Home Depot Center for a 7:30 p.m. match. It is a Los Angeles Times family night with special packages of four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas, a parking pass and a newspaper beginning at $85. ALL-STARS TO FACE MEXICO'S CHIVAS IN 2003 PEPSI MLS ALL-STAR GAME: The 2003 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game will feature a squad of MLS All-Stars taking on popular Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara this Saturday August 2. The 2003 Pepsi MLS All-Star Game will be televised nationally from The Home Depot Center in Carson, beginning at 12:30 p.m. (PT), live on ABC Sports. Fans looking more ticket information are asked to call 1-877-3GALAXY.

GALAXY STARS ADD GLITTER TO ALL-STAR GAME: The Galaxy will be well represented on the 2003 MLS All-Star team. Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, defenders Danny Califf and Hong Myung-Bo, midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos and forward Carlos Ruiz have all been selected to play in the game. Additionally, defender Tyrone Marshall and midfielder Cobi Jones have been named to a second team of All-Stars, one that will provide reinforcements should any of the members of the first 18 find himself unable to play in the game for any reason.

CALIFF AUTOGRAPH SIGNING THURSDAY PART OF ALL-STAR FESTIVITIES: Pepsi, the official sponsor of the 2003 MLS All Star Game is hosting a player appearance on Thursday, July 31. Los Angeles Galaxy All-Star defender Danny Califf will be signing autographs from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Albertson's located in Santa Ana on 770 S. Harbor Blvd. Pepsi is the official soft drink of Major League Soccer.

GONZALEZ TO PLAY FOR USA IN UNDER-17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Guillermo "Memo" Gonzalez has been named to the team that will represent the USA at the FIFA Under-17 World Championship Finland 2003. The 17-year-old Gonzalez made his MLS debut on June 21 vs. the MetroStars and has spent the majority of the summer training with the Galaxy.

GALAXY TO PLAY U.S OPEN CUP GAME AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER: The Los Angeles Galaxy, the 2001 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Champions, will host the winner of the July 22 game between the Fresno Fuego (PDL) and the El Paso Patriots (A-League) on August 6 at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center in the fourth round of the 2003 U.S. Open Cup, according to the tournament schedule confirmed by U.S. Soccer. The 2003 campaign marks the fifth consecutive season that the Galaxy has competed in the U.S. Open Cup. The team has compiled a 12-3 overall record in its four previous appearances, including a perfect 5-0 mark in 2001, when it captured the tournament championship.

US SOCCER FOUNDATION TO COLLECT USED GEAR AS PART OF PASSBACK PROGRAM ON AUGUST 9: The United States Soccer Foundation, in conjunction with Resource Center Partner, Eurosport, and the Galaxy will be collecting used but usable soccer gear as part of their Passback Program. The soccer gear will be collected at the US Soccer Foundation tables located at NE, NW and SW gates at the Home Depot Center. All equipment collected at the Galaxy game will be donated to local soccer associations in Southern California. The US Soccer Foundation is developing the sport of soccer across America through innovative partnerships and grants that help underwrite and support soccer programs and field development. THE GALAXY SOCCER REPORT - WED AT 7PM: The Galaxy Soccer Report, hosted by Steven Cohen, Nick Geber and Rick Davis, will take the week off as the Galaxy take on the Crew this Wednesday. The Galaxy Soccer Report, which airs every Wednesday night from 7-8 pm on KMPC 1540 The Ticket throughout the Galaxy season, will return on August 7.

GALAXY DEPORTIVO - SAT AT 3 PM: Galaxy Deportivo, hosted by Elmer Polanco and Jaime Motta will air this and every Saturday throughout the Galaxy season at 3 p.m. on KWHY, Channel 22. This week the show, which will air from The Home Depot Center immediately following the Pepsi MLS All-Star Game, will go in-depth on the MLS's mid-summer showcase.

CREW CONNECTIONS:Cobi Jones, Frankie Hejduk and Brian McBride were teammates on the U.S. World Cup squad that finished among the top eight countries at the 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan...The Galaxy's Carlos Ruiz and Crew midfielder Freddy Garcia were teammates on the Guatemalan youth national teams, Olympic team and are current members of the full national team...A little know fact is that Galaxy GK Kevin Hartman was born in Athens, Ohio...New Zealanders reunited, Duncan Oughton along with the Galaxy's Simon Elliott came to MLS via New Zealand...Brian Dunseth and Oughton both attended Cal State Fullerton.

LAST MEETING VS COLUMBUS: Reigning MLS Honda MVP Carlos Ruiz netted the equalizer for the defending champion Los Angeles Galaxy as they tied the Columbus Crew 1-1 on MLS' Opening Day April 5 on a brisk and windy afternoon at Columbus Crew Stadium. Forward Edson Buddle tallied the first goal of MLS' eighth season for the home team in a nationally televised match-up between the defending MLS Cup champions (Galaxy) and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions (Crew).

THE HOME DEPOT CENTER TO HOST WOMEN'S WORLD CUP FINAL: In the schedule announced today by FIFA and U.S Soccer, The Home Depot Center will host the final of FIFA Women's World Cup USA 2003 on Sunday, October 12. The Home Depot Center, the nation's premier outdoor facility, will also open its doors to first round doubleheaders on September 21 and 25 as well as the third-place match on October 11.
