Galaxy II Forward Ariel Lassiter Named to Costa Rican U-23 Squad

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015) - LA Galaxy II forward Ariel Lassiter has been called up to the Costa Rican U-23 Men's National Team to represent his country in the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic in Bradenton, Fla. from Feb.18-28.

Lassiter and Costa Rica will compete against MLS sides Columbus Crew SC, Philadelphia Union, New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC in addition to OKC Energy FC (USL), HB Koge (Danish 1st Division) and London United, which is composed of players currently out of contract.

All IMG Suncoast Pro Classic games will be streamed live on www.imgsuncoastproclassic.com.

Born in Turrialba, Costa Rica, Lassiter signed with Los Dos ahead of the 2015 USL season. The 20-year-old forward attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2014, where he earned honors on the Big West Conference All Freshman Team, starting in 21 games while scoring five goals and adding four assists. His five goals were second most on the team during the 2014 season.

In July 2014, Lassiter signed a professional contract with GAIS in Sweden's second highest division, Superettan, where he scored one goal in 12 appearances for the club.

Los Dos will kick off their second season in USL on Sunday, March 22 against the Real Salt Lake Monarchs at StubHub Center's Track & Field Stadium, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. PT.
