G-Force Rolls in Home Victory over Orlando

Paramus, N.J. (Saturday, May 12, 2012) - In a game in which it never once trailed, the Jersey G-Force rolled to a 127-105 victory in front of its hometown crowd at Bergen Community College on Saturday night. Guard David Seagers led the way for the hosts with 27 points, but the entire G-Force squad put together a great collective team effort in the win.
The G-Force came out aggressively in this game from the opening tip, immediately crashing the defensive boards and feeding the ball low on offense where big men Lawrence Felder and Cody Boone attacked in the post. Led by an additional offensive spark from NBA D-League veteran Delroy James and Seagers, the hometown team found itself with a double-digit lead early. However, Orlando responded with some stops and scoring on the other side of its floor to close within six points with a couple of minutes left in the opening frame. After Jersey head coach Wes Matthews called a timeout to pause that production, his team immediately found its offensive groove again when action resumed. First, guard Anderson Lanaze stole the inbounds pass and scored on a lay-up, and then swingman Devon Young hit a triple on the following possession. Young then buried a pair of free throws the next time down the floor, and the hosts owned a 35-24 lead when the horn sounded to conclude the first quarter.
In the second frame, both sides put together some offensive runs, but Seagers was able to trigger nice momentum for his team by hitting both long-range shots and driving to the hole where he put away his lay-ups. The hometown crowd really started getting into the fun and voicing their excitement when fan favorite Bryce Stanhope checked into the game, and he fed the G-Force some good energy with his pace. The audience received a huge burst with a little over three minutes remaining in the quarter after Stanhope fired a three-pointer just off the mark, and center Sam Wallace was able to pull down the rebound. He then attacked the rim and blasted home a two-handed dunk, fouled in the process and bringing the crowd to its feet.
The Venom was able to respond once again, but the G-Force finished off the half on a good note after Young sunk another triple in the waning seconds. When the two teams officially broke for intermission, the G-Force remained in possession of the lead, 61-55.
After having to miss the majority of the first half in foul trouble, Jersey guard Louie McCroskey came back on the floor in the third frame, finding his shot early. The hosts were also getting nice defensive production from forward Steffan Farley, who stood strong in the post and did a good job of cleaning up the glass. Orlando looked to keep itself in the game off the offensive output of guard Miles Taylor, but the G-Force answered by going on a big run to close out the third frame. When three quarters were officially in the books, the hometown team owned a 16-point advantage, 93-77.
Despite having a significant lead, the G-Force still played very aggressively on defense and pushed the tempo on the offensive end of the floor, stretching the gap to as far as 24 points in the early going of the fourth frame. However, one could not tell the margin of difference was that large by seeing the level of intensity that the hosts continued to put on display. Playing like the scoreboard was much tighter, the G-Force kept the game honest on every possession, using a great overall effort from every man who touched the floor to eventually finish out a 127-105 victory at home.
Next up on the schedule for the G-Force is a pair of contests in Orlando next weekend, which will conclude its 2012 branding season in the International Basketball League.
