August 19, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Philadelphia Colonials News Release
PHILADELPHIA â The Philadelphia Fusion of the American Basketball Association (ABA) will host its second open free-agent tryout camp on Sunday, September 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Villanova University's St. Mary's Gymnasium, General Manager Jeff Wilson announced today. The professional basketball franchise has invited some players back from its first camp and is looking for additional high-quality athletes to fill out an active roster of 10 players before the season-opener in November.
"After seeing the number of quality participants at our first tryout in July, we are excited to host another open tryout," said Wilson. "There are a lot of talented players in the area and we want to make sure we do not miss out on someone who may have been overlooked in the past."
The camp is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. The registration fee is $125. Interested players should visit the team's Web site at www.philadelphiafusion.com to print out an application. The completed application, along with a cashier's check or money order made payable to "Philadelphia Fusion," must be received by Friday, September 3 and sent to: Philadelphia Fusion, 575 E. Swedesford Rd., Suite 215, Wayne, PA 19087.

About the Philadelphia Fusion
The Fusion will play its first season in Philadelphia after spending last season in New Jersey as the Squires. The community-oriented team promises to bring affordable family entertainment to the basketball fans of the Delaware Valley. The 2004-2005 ABA season will run from November to March as the Fusion competes in the Northeast Division, along with Pittsburg, Boston, Harlem, New Jersey and Maryland. The league has expanded from seven teams to 37, including franchises in Canada and Mexico.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
