August 10, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Philadelphia Colonials News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Fusion of the American Basketball Association (ABA) will join the Norristown Police Athletic League (PAL) in hosting its Norristown PAL/Captain Willie G. Richet Basketball Camp for inner-city children, General Manager Jeff Wilson announced today.

"We are pleased to be able to work with the Norristown PAL in this endeavor," said Wilson. "I admire the goals of Captain Richet and his staff and look forward to interacting with the children. Basketball is a great way to reach these kids and teach them important life lessons that will help both on and off the court."

The youth basketball camp is the first event to be held in the Norristown PAL Center (1101 Harding Blvd., Norristown, PA 19401), which opened last Thursday. More than 150 children ages eight to 14 are participating in the camp, which began on Monday and will run through Friday. The Fusion staff will visit the children on Thursday, August 12 at 9 a.m.

"The Norristown PAL is very happy to establish a relationship with the Fusion," said Captain Richet, who is also director of the Norristown PAL. "A lot of these kids dream of playing professional ball, so we welcome the Fusion with open arms. Our goal is to provide many avenues for the children to not only hone their basketball talents, but also gain valuable life skills."

Each day, the camp is divided into gym stations and classrooms for the children to learn various basketball techniques and life lessons. Members of the Fusion staff will speak to the children, run fun basketball activities and provide them with first-edition Fusion t-shirts and great prizes.
