MUSKEGON, MI.--- The hockey operations department for the Muskegon Fury of the United Hockey League has been the center of considerable activity throughout the off-season 2003 and still is today with the franchise 12th training camp a mere few weeks hence. In the latest development from the Fury organization, Muskegon has completed its second trade of the past month as they point toward the rapidly-approaching 2003-04 UHL campaign.

As announced today by the Fury's Team Owner and Club President Tony Lisman, in concert with Director of Hockey Operations / Head Coach Todd Nelson, Muskegon has traded center DAVID BURGESS to UHL Eastern Conference rival, the Adirondack IceHawks. In exchange, the Fury will receive Adirondack's number one choice in the UHL's annual North American Amateur Junior Draft which will be conducted on March 23, 2004.

In the upcoming 2003-04 season, BURGESS, 25, will be commencing his first full pro campaign after making his pro debut late last season with the Fury.

The former All-Canadian pivot from McGill U. in Montreal saw action in the Fury's last 7-games of last regular season, collecting 6-points in those 7-games on 4-goals, 2-assists, recording 6-PIM and a +1 rating. Included in his output were 2-PPG and 1-GWG. In his first-ever appearance as a pro, in the UHL Colonial Cup Playoffs, Burgess engineered 10-points in 9-games through 2-goals, 8-assists, again with 6-PIM, a +1 rating and 2-PPG.

Originally signed by the Fury as a free agent on March 11, 2003, immediately following a sterling Canadian college career, the 5-10. 180lb native of Killarny, Manitoba was McGill U. leading scorer in 2002-03 and ranked third overall in OUA conference scoring with 52-points in 30-games on 13-goals and 39-assists, averaging 1.70 points per game.

Prior to his collegiate career, Burgess saw service in the junior ‘A' ranks for the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL, (Manitoba Junior Hockey League). He made his pro debut for the Fury on March 13, 2003 in Missouri against the River Otters.

For Burgess, the Fury will acquire Adirondack's top selection in the March 20004 UHL annual North American Amateur Junior Draft. Last month, the Fury also obtained fellow Western Conference rival, the Rockford IceHogs number one junior pick in the same draft when they dealt defenseman Gary Ricciardi to the Illinois city UHL entry.

Through this latest transaction, the Fury now own three number one selections in next March's draft, including their own choice.

With the trade of Burgess, there are now officially six players from the end of last season's Muskegon roster no longer with the club. In addition to Burgess and Ricciardi, Steve MacIntyre (signed NHL contract with the New York Rangers), with three others lost in the UHL expansion draft; namely Shane Glover (Richmond), Michal Lanicek (Richmond) and Jeff Lukasak (Columbus).
