Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - While their three-game winning streak was snapped with a pair of one-goal defeats, Fury FC head to Fort Lauderdale confident that they can turn the tide and return to the win column. Despite conceding late goals in both losses, head coach Paul Dalglish says his players should continue to hold their heads high. Both losses, he said, could have gone either way.
"One play, one final pass, one better finish, one better defensive play and we get points from those games," said Dalglish. "When you're so close in games despite all the injuries, there is not much you need to change. It's all about those four moments in the game and changing their outcome."
With three games coming up in the next eight days, the gaffer sees a great opportunity for his club to once again turn things around and halt the losing streak.
"We have three games coming up in a short span of time, if we win all three of them we are right back in it," said Dalglish. "You saw last time, we had three wins in a week and the world changed. Now we have two defeats in two weeks and suddenly the world changed again and that's football. We just have to keep working hard and believe in ourselves."
One thing that Fury FC will need to address before Saturday's match is the difficult they've had closing out games after conceding a goal in injury time against Indy Eleven and then in the 87th minute against Jacksonville.
For defender Lance Rozeboom - who leads the team in passing accuracy in the last four games at 92.3% (169/183) - it's a matter of staying focused for 90 minutes.
"Staying mentally sharp for 90 minutes is the key," said Rozeboom. "The lack of communication on set-pieces the last two games has cost us, so we have to communicate better. We also need to create more chances and take advantage of them."
After Saturday's clash against the Strikers, Fury FC will return to TD Place to begin a three-game home stand starting with Miami FC on August at 7:00 p.m. Fall Season tickets are available by clicking here, calling 613-232-6767 x1 or in person at the TD Place Box Office.
