Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON- After a scoreless stalemate last Saturday in Carolina - the team's fifth consecutive draw to tie an NASL record - Fury FC head to Minnesota on Saturday to close out their three game road trip (8600+ kilometers traveled) looking to extend their undefeated run against the Loons.
Saturday's contest is the first of back-to-back meetings between Ottawa and Minnesota as the Loons will fly north of the border next Saturday landing at TD Place to face Fury FC on September 24.
Fans should expect another tight affair on Saturday, as every contest lifetime between the two teams has been decided by a single goal or less. In eight lifetime meetings against the Loons, Fury FC have a record of 2W-2D-4L including a win in the lone postseason tilt last November.
"We are basically going to play an MLS team, so I expect it's going to be a good game, but a tough game," said head coach Paul Dalglish. "They're a quality team. We shared the points when we played them here in a tight game. We are really solid defensively at the moment and if we can only add a little bit of quality in the final third to that, I'm sure we can get points from that game as well."
While Fury FC are still aiming to find consistency in their attack, their defensive game looks sharper than ever, boasting the third best defensive record in the Fall Season conceding only 13 goals in 14 matches.
Rafael Alves and Romuald Peiser proved once again to be key components of Ottawa's defensive masterpiece displayed against Puerto Rico and Carolina last week. The Frenchman saw one of his brilliant saves win NASL Play of the Week honours, while Alves was selected to the NASL Team of the Week for a second time in three weeks.
For Peiser, the recipe behind success is fairly simple.
"Work and only work," said Peiser. "Never give up, even in tough situations. At the end, quality always come through so never stop working."
Following Saturday's match, the two teams will meet againt seven days later, on September 24th, at TD Place this time. Tickets are available by clicking here, calling 613-232-6767 x1 or in person at the TD Place Box Office. The Fall Season schedule is available here.
