FULLERTON, CA: The Fullerton Flyers announced on Thursday that Manager Garry Templeton, and his coaching staff, have selected the 22 players that will board the bus today to head north to open the 2006 season against the Chico Outlaws on Friday night in Chico, CA.
All but 9 of the players on the 2006 Flyers roster are residents of California, and two players have international roots.
"We feel that we have put together a great team this season", Templeton told a large group of season ticket holders, sponsors, and fans at the team's annual Gold Circle Event on Wednesday night, held at the Brea Improv. "We plan to show the rest of the GBL what Fullerton baseball is all about."
The Flyers roster consists of the following players:
Rookies: Pitcher Nick Casanova (Corona, CA); Catcher Joey Hendricks (Glendora, CA); Pitcher Matt Lincoln (Burbank, CA); Outfielder Toshi Sasa (Osaka, Japan).
Veterans: First Baseman Peanut Williams (Nacogdoches, TX) and Catcher Sandy De Leon (Dominican Republic and New York City).

The Flyers return 8 players from the 2005 squad.
"We have 22 guys that are focused one thing this season - bringing a championship to Orange County", Flyers General Manager Ed Hart told the Brea Improv gathering. "I am proud to represent these guys, and to be represented by them, and you (the fans) will be, as well."
The Flyers also announced this week that former Professional pitcher, and last year's Flyers pitching coach, Charlie Phillips, will be joining radio play-by-play man Jordan Moore in the radio booth for 54 of the Flyers 80 games this season. Phillips brings a unique blend of playing and coaching experience to the Flyers broadcasts. Phillips is a graduate of the University of Southern California, and played professionally in the Angels and Dodgers organizations.
