Orange County Flyers News Release

Craig Frydendall threw eight great innings to earn his first victory since his first start of the season. Rick Elder hit a two-run homerun to provide all the offense for the Flyers.

The Flyers took a 2-1 decision at Goodwin Field over the Armada behind a strong start from Craig Frydendall and a thrilling close from Wes Faust. Wes Faust struck out the side in the 9th inning to earn his third save despite giving up a one out triple.

Craig Frydendall had streaks in the game where he retired nine batters consecutively and then the last 10 batters he faced.

Frydendall only struck out one batter, but he gave up just six hits. All the hits were singles.

Rik Currier threw four innings in his first start of the season for the Armada. The only runs he gave up were on the Rick Elder two-run blast in the 2nd inning.

Long Beach scored in the 1st inning to jump in front behind three straight singles from Randall Shelley, Jeff Larue, and Jeremy Hernandez.

The Flyers played a clean game in the field behind Craig Frydendall, who did not walk a single better.

The Armada lead the four game series 2-1.

Robert Mason will get his first start of the season tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
