Vermont Frost Heaves News Release

Rochester, NY - The Vermont Frost Heaves put an end to the Rochester Razorsharks 48 game home winning streak with a dramatic 113-110 win in Rochester tonight. The Razorsharks had not lost a game at home in 48 straight games over a period of more than 3 years.

With Vermont leading 53-51 at the half, Rochester came out in the second half with a stifling defense and took command of the game in the third quarter. They outscored Vermont 42 - 29 in the quarter and built a commanding 13-point lead half way through the fourth quarter at 101-97 on a 3-pointer by Sammy Monroe with 4:42 remaining in the game.

The Frost Heaves defense dug-in and started to clamp down on the Rochester offense. Joe Nixon's' 3 point shot from the left elbow with 25 seconds remaining gave the Frost Heaves a 111-110 lead. After a Joe Williams foul, the Razorsharks inbounded to Jerice Crouch who drove in to the corner and encountered a wall of blue. A forced shot by Crouch was rebounded by Coles, and the Razorsharks were forced to foul Brandon Cole. Cole sank both of the foul shots and with 1 second left, Keith Friel's 3-point attempt from the top of the key bounced off the front of the rim.

The game started off back and forth with neither team really taking control, but Brandon Cole from inside and Greg Plummer from outside kept the game close. Cole was the leading scorer in the game with 27 points, shooting 9-9 from 2-point range and overall 9-10 from the field. He added 5 rebounds and 2 steals to go with his 27 points. Greg Plummer and Thomas Sanders added 17 points each to help pace the Frost Heaves. James Reaves paced the Razorsharks with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Sammy Monroe added 16 points for the Razorsharks and Derek Holyfield chipped in with 14.

The Frost Heaves shot 61% from the field and despite 32 turnovers out-rebounded the Razorsharks 38-26. The Frost Heaves next game is this coming Friday night in Quebec City against the Kebs and then they take on the Montreal Sasquatch in Montreal on Saturday.
