Frost Heaves Bump Halifax To 4th

Barre, VT - In a playoff atmosphere tonight in Barre, The Vermont Frost Heaves defeated the Halifax Rainmen 107 - 98 victory in a CVT Sports.net instant classic.

With the victory tonight, the Frost Heaves winning streak goes to 7 games in a row and the Frost Heaves are in 3rd place in the PBL standings. Halifax falls to 4th place. Both teams have qualified for the playoffs.

Halifax jumped out in the 1st quarter and the quarter ended with Halifax holding a 29 - 26 lead. Vermont clawed their way back in the second quarter and the half ended with Vermont holding a 53 - 46 advantage.

Halifax would not give and the 3rd quarter seesawed back and forth and Halifax tied the game at 66. Back to back 3 pointers by Aaron Cook and Juwan Bailey had the Frost Heaves holding a 79 - 73 lead heading in to the 4th quarter.

Halifax tied the game at 84 with about 7 minutes to play and then built up a 12 point advantage with three and half minutes remaining in the game. The Frost Heaves then proceeded to go n an 18 - 0 run on tight defense and some forced turnovers. Dwuan Rice sank 6 straight free throws during the stretch to help seal the win.

The Frost Heaves had 5 players in double figures led by Dwuan Rice with 20 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. Marshall Brown had 19, Juwan Bailey with 17 points and 16 rebounds, Marcus Austin with 13 points and Ross Demasi with 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Halifax was led in scoring by Desmond Ferguson with 19 points followed by Gary Ervin with 18 points, and 8 rebounds. Ervin was 12 - 12 from the charity stripe. Eric Crookshank added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Rainmen.

Vermont's next home game is Thursday April 8 in Barre when they take on the defending PBL champs, the Rochester Razorsharks. Game time is 7:05.
