Frisco's Twelve Hits Sink NW Arkansas, 5-2

SURPRISE, AZ - Four innings of no-hit relief by the Frisco RoughRiders relievers led to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals' 5-2 loss on Monday afternoon. The loss to the Texas Rangers' Double-A club drops the Naturals' spring exhibition record to 6-4.

Catcher Adam Donachie doubled his number of spring training hits by going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk on the day, but the Naturals' couldn't manage to score any more runs after the game was tied at two apiece going into the sixth.

Daniel Cortes started for the Naturals and reached his pitch count after just four innings, allowing four hits and two runs. The 20-year old Cortes fanned three and also walked three, but seemed to get better as the game went on, tossing scoreless frames in the third and fourth innings before departing. Rowdy Hardy relieved Cortes and finished the game, yielding eight hits and three runs. He struck out four and did not issue any free passes. Hardy was the Carolina League Pitcher of the Year in 2007.

The Naturals have a total of 13 spring games on their Arizona schedule before breaking camp on March 28th. Tuesday, the Naturals will travel to Peoria to face the San Antonio Missions, the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate.
