Akron Racers News Release

AKRON, OH - Due to heavy rain, resulting in dangerous field conditions, and the threat of more rain in the evening, Friday's game between the Akron Racers and Beijing Shougang Eagles has been postponed. The game will be made up as a doubleheader Saturday, with the make-up game being played at 4:35 p.m. prior to tomorrow's regularly scheduled game that is set to begin at 7:05 p.m.

Fans with tickets to tonight's game can use them to get into tomorrow's makeup or exchange them at the Racers ticket office for another remaining home game in the 2017 schedule. Following tomorrow's doubleheader, the Racers will remain at home to close out the 2017 regular schedule next week. Akron will host the Scrap Yard Dawgs in a four-game series next Tuesday-Thursday, August 8-10, with a doubleheader on Wednesday, and then the Texas Charge will come to Firestone Stadium for a two-game series on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13 for the regular season finale.

The Racers currently find themselves in the thick of the race for one of the four spots in the 2017 NPF Championship Series being held at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana August 17-20. Akron currently occupies fourth place in the standings, one-half game ahead of the Charge in fifth place and two-and-one-half games behind the Chicago Bandits in third place.
