
Fresno Fuego Defeat San Diego Zest

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Fuego (USL Premier Development League) were back on the pitch at Chukchansi Park Thursday, hosting the San Diego Zest FC in the first of two meetings between the clubs this season, and their first of three home matches in a week. The Fuego took the victory over the Zest 5-2.
The Fuego opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a goal from midfielder Renato Bustamante. He took a soft shot from the middle of the box that snuck past goalkeeper Sean Williams to make the score 1-0. Midfielder Diego Casillas passed him the ball from the right of the box for the assist.
Bustamante netted his second of the match in the 11th minute when he gathered a pass from by Jose Cuevas from the midfield and scored into an empty net around Williams who came out to challenge the play.
Fresno increased their lead to 3-0 in the 28th minute when defender Elijah Martin kicked the ball around Williams who once again challenged the play, and scored from the lower right corner of the box. Bustamante picked up his third point of the match with an assist on the goal.
In the 35th minute, defender Bruno Brumati kicked the ball over the head of the keeper from the top of the box to put Fresno ahead 4-0. The Fuego took a 5-0 lead to halftime with a goal in the 41st minute. Defender Sergi Nus booted the ball into the box from Fresno's own zone where midfielder Cuevas shot it into the net for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The Zest got on the board in the second half when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute. Forward Garrett Heine took the kick and scored into the right corner of the net passed Fuego keeper Augie Rey to make the score 5-1. They cut Fresno's lead to 5-2 in the 66th minute on Heine's second goal of the match. He took a pass from across the pitch in the top right corner of the box and scored into the left corner of the net.
The Fuego will play their next match on Saturday, June 10 against the Southern California Surf at Chukchansi Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
