TRENTON, N.J. - Freedom defensive lineman Marques Slocum has signed a contract with the Arena Football League's Pittsburgh Power.
Slocum, at 6-foot-6, 340 pounds, is a graduate a West Philadelphia High who played collegiately at the University of Michigan and Eastern Arizona College. He also had time in camp with the NFL's Washington Redskins and performed in several Indoor Football leagues.
Slocum's move to Pittsburgh and the AFL is in line with the Freedom's plan on assisting players to further their professional football careers.
"We're happy for Marques,'' said Freedom head coach Kevin O'Hanlon. "We want our players to have a chance to move to the next level from Trenton. It's good for our players and a credit to our organization.''
The Freedom will open their inaugural PIFL season at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, hosting the Richmond Raiders. Both season and single-game tickets are available by calling 1-800-521-FREE (3373) or by going to http://www.trentonfreedom.com/tickets.html.
