
Freedoms Draft American Teen Sensation Sloane Stephens in Today's Mylan WTT Marquee Draft

(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) - The PhiladelphiaFreedoms selected No. 2 ranked American player and 2013 Australian Open semifinalistSloane Stephens with their firstpick in the 2013 Mylan World TeamTennis Marquee Draft this afternoon.
The Philadelphia Freedoms also announced a superstar lineupof visiting players including AndyRoddick and the world's top-ranked doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan. Eachof these tennis greats will play one match against the Freedoms this July atVillanova University in Mylan World TeamTennis presented by GEICO.
Fresh off of her breakthrough run at the 2013 AustralianOpen, 19-year-old Sloane Stephens will join the Freedoms for her second MylanWorld TeamTennis season. World No. 17 Stephens advanced to the semifinals by defeatingSerena Williams, the only time Williams has ever lost to a younger Americanplayer. Aside from a fierce backhand, Stephens is known for raisingtennis' social media profile - she tweeted on-court immediately following herdefeat of Serena (Twitter handle: @sloanetweets). Stephens played for Mylan World Team Tennis'historic all-amateur team in 2009.
Former world No. 1 and 2003 US Open Champion Andy Roddick will return toPhiladelphia after playing as a member of the Freedoms team in 2010. This year Roddick will play for theSpringfield Lasers in his first competitive professional matches since the 2012US Open. In 2010, Roddick led theFreedoms to a 24-17 win over the Boston Lobsters in front of a sellout crowd atThe Pavilion.
Bob andMike Bryan return to Philadelphia following their 2012 Olympic gold medal win. The record-setting brothers have held theyear-end number oneranking for eight of the last ten years and recently won their 13th careerGrand Slam doubles title at the 2013 Australian Open. They will take the courtwith the new Texas Wild team from Irving, Texas. This will be the Bryans' 11thseason of Mylan WTT competition.
