
Freedoms Announce 2012 Schedule with Home Opener on July 10 with James Blake

(PHILADELPHIA, Pa.) - The Philadelphia Freedoms announced their 2012 home season will kick off on July 10 with fan favorite James Blake playing for the Freedoms against the Sacramento Capitals. The World TeamTennis match will take place in front of Philadelphia's tennis enthusiasts at the Pavilion at Villanova University at 7:00 pm.
World No. 1 doubles team Bob and Mike Bryan, playing for the Kansas City Explorers, will compete against the Freedoms on July 16 at Villanova. Two former world number ones in both singles and doubles, John McEnroe and Martina Hingis will represent the New York Sportimes on the court against the Freedoms on July 20 in a blockbuster evening. The home season closes on July 25 with Freedoms first overall marquee pick, former world No. 8 Mark Philippoussis playing against the Boston Lobsters.
Tennis great Chris Evert will be making a special appearance on July 19, interacting with fans and guests at the Freedoms match against the Orange County Breakers.
Billie Jean King and the Philadelphia Freedoms' super-charged roster not only includes Philippoussis and Blake, but also the top overall pick in the WTT Roster Draft, the doubles team of twin sisters Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova. The sisters have quickly moved up the WTA rankings and will be playing their rookie WTT season with the Freedoms. The Freedoms also added Luka Gregorc of Slovenia and doubles standout Jordan Kerr from Australia.
As part of seven nights of amazing home matches, the Freedoms will host theme nights including Guys' Night Out with the Philadelphia Flyers, Twin Night with the Philadelphia Union, Billie Jean King Night with a Bastille Day celebration that will also recognize the 40th anniversary of King's first of four French Open wins, and Girls' Night Out with Mark Philippoussis. These special events will give fans an opportunity to get up close and personal with tennis greats and special guests as well as add even more enthusiasm and excitement to the matches.
Freedoms 2012 individual tickets went on sale at noon today, Tuesday, March 20. Tickets are available online exclusively through Ticketfly at freedomstix.ticketfly.com. Fans can also purchase tickets directly through the Ticketfly "Buy Tickets" app at the top of the Freedoms' Facebook page (www.facebook.com/PhiladelphiaFreedoms). All seats are reserved.
