Freedom off to Atlanta to face the Beat this Saturday
June 24, 2003 - Women's Professional Soccer (WPS)
magicJack News Release
This Friday, the Freedom (5-3-2) travel to Atlanta (5-2-4) for Saturday's game against the Beat. This is the second of three meetings with Atlanta and the first to be held on the road at the Beat's Herndon Stadium.
The Freedom-Beat rivalry is one of the fiercest in the WUSA, due in part to Atlanta's powerful offensive lineup. Cindy Parlow was particularly explosive last Sunday, scoring a hat trick in the Beat's blowout over the Charge, earning her MET-Rx Player of the Week honors. Supporting Parlow will be Maribel Dominguez, a scoring machine in her own right. Dominguez had a hat trick earlier this season and is currently tied for 4th in the WUSA leading scorer standings, while leading all players in the total shots category with 38. Freedom fans can catch a tape-delayed broadcast of the game at 11 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet. The game will also be broadcast live on Comcast Sports Southeast.
