Freedom Inks Illini

December 9, 2003 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Fort Wayne Freedom News Release

The Fort Wayne Freedom announced today that the team has added defensive lineman Jamie Hanton to its roster for 2004. Hanton is the second former Illinois player to join the Freedom, following leading rusher Rocky Harvey to the Summit City.

The 6'4", 315 pound Hanton started six games for the Illini in 2002 and displayed great athleticism in the interior. In 10 games as part of the defensive line rotation, Hanton had 1 sack and 3 tackles for a loss. His career began at Chaffey College in California, where he had a standout career playing up and down the defensive line. The California native will graduate from Illinois this December.

"Jamie is a solid pickup for us," said Head Coach Rich Huff, "We're expecting big things from him defensively and he could develop into a two-way performer giving us a little more depth on the offensive line.

The Freedom kicks off its 2004 season March 14th at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Season tickets are on sale now through the end of January. Contact the Freedom office to select your seats today.
