San Diego Riptide News Release

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Riptide formally announced today that all Riptide home games will now feature free parking to all fans. That's a savings of $6 per game. Additionally, with season tickets, you will receive eight games for the price of seven—a total savings of as much as $98. Season seats start at just $56 and can be purchased three different ways – in person at the Riptide office, over the phone by calling the Riptide office toll-free at 866-RIPTIDE or clicking here to get the Riptide's secure website – sandiegoriptide.com.

"When we brought the Riptide to the San Diego community, it was our vision to bring a great sports experience at an affordable price," says Riptide President/C.O.O. Gil Saidy, "that's why were very excited to provide free parking to all our fans. We had a great first year and we look forward to many more great years to come."

In their inaugural season, the Riptide were named as arenafootball2's Expansion Franchise of the Year, were third in the league in attendance and advanced to the National Conference Semi-finals before losing to the eventual ArenaCup champions. The Riptide averaged 45.4 points per game with most games decided in the final quarter of play.

It was an amazing rookie season for the Riptide and we cannot wait to take the field in April," said Riptide Head Coach Cree Morris. "We were just minutes away from a chance to go to the title game in our first year, that's quite an accomplishment and we look to improve on it in 2003."

Last year nearly a third of the roster came from San Diego State, including All-af2 First Team WR/LB Rico Curtis, who shattered the af2's single-season tackle mark. In all, over 90% of the Riptide players have connections with the San Diego community, whether it was playing high school or college in the area.

"If the goal is for a family to enjoy a sporting event without taking out a second on the abode, to have unimaginable access to athletes and their playing surface, to see more points than your average NBA game, to feel as warm and welcome as crackling flames inside a ski lodge, Year 1 of af2 succeeded here." - Ed Graney of the San Diego Union-Tribune (July 21, 2002)

2003 Riptide season tickets begin at just $56 for eight exciting high scoring, helmet popping, action packed home games at the Sports Arena. Call the Riptide offices during Monday through Friday from 9-5pm toll-free at 866-RIPTIDE or log onto sandiegoriptide.com.
