ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have reassigned goaltender Frederik Andersen to the Danish National Team. Andersen and the Danish National Team will participate in the final qualification tournament for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Denmark is the top seed in Group F of the tournament, which takes place from February 7-10 in Vojens, Denmark.
"This is a great opportunity for Frederik to represent his country," said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. "We wish him the best and look forward to his return following the qualification games."
Andersen, 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, has appeared in 23 games for Norfolk this season, going 9-10-1 with a 2.30 goals-against average (GAA) and .929 save percentage (SV%). He leads the Admirals in wins, GAA and SV% as he skates in his first North American pro season. In addition, Andersen leads all AHL rookies in GAA and SV% while ranking fifth overall in the AHL in SV% and ninth overall in GAA.
