NWSL National Women's Soccer League

Francisca Ordega and Nigeria Take on Sweden Today at 4 p.m. ET in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015

June 8, 2015 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) News Release

CHICAGO (June 8, 2015) - Francisca Ordega and Nigeria bring their high-flying attack to the World Cup when they square off against Sweden at 4 p.m. ET on Monday at Winnipeg Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Ordega and the Super Falcons enjoyed an ideal performance in their final tune-up game ahead of the tournament with a 9-0 victory over Canadian club Woodbridge Ladies on Monday as the Washington Spirit forward led the line with a second-half hat trick.

Ordega has enjoyed a strong rookie campaign in the NWSL this season with two goals and two assists in five matches - including the game-winning goal in the Spirit's 1-0 win May 16 over Sky Blue FC - and she will be eager to take that form to the international stage.

Nigeria is among seven countries to appear in all seven Women's World Cups and will be looking to match their best previous performance when they reached the quarterfinals at the 1999 tournament in the United States.

To do so, coach Edwin Okon's side will have to better their 2011 result when they were unable to get out of the group that included Germany, France and this year's hosts Canada.

In order to accomplish that feat, Nigeria will need to get off to a strong start against Sweden on Monday before taking on Australia on June 12 and the United States on June 16. All three of their Group D opponents come into the tournament ranked inside the top 10 of the FIFA Women's Rankings, with the Super Falcons entering the competition rated the No. 33 best team in the world.

This is the second time Ordega has made a World Cup roster and the 21-year-old forward will be eager for her first start in the competition after coming off the bench as a second-half substitute in her two previous appearances.
