
Fourth Quarter Collapse Does in Steelheads at Albany, 87-81

GARY, Indiana - A fourth quarter collapse by the Gary Steelheads lead to their second defeat of the young USBL season, 87-81 in Albany. Gary had a 17-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but the Steelheads were unable to close out the game.
After a 16-16 first quarter, the Steelheads built up a 43-30 halftime lead and extended the lead to 66-49 at the end of the third quarter. But then, the Patroons answered with a 38-point fourth quarter, while holding the Steelheads to just 15. For the game, Gary shot just .435 from the field and .690 from the foul line.
For the Steelheads, a pair of double-double performances were waisted. Forward Jamario Moon scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, while guard Ray Cunningham scored 10 points and grabbed 11 boards. Carl Edwards was the only double-digit scorer with 16. For the first time this year, rookie Adam Schaper finished below double digit scoring with six points.
The Patroons were paced by guard Ross Arnold with 26 points and a game-high nine assists. Antoine Jordan added 14 points for the winners, while Eric Williams paced Albany rebounders with 11.
With the loss, the Steelheads fall to 7-2 on the season, while the Patroons improved to 4-4 on the season, with all four victories coming on their home court.
The two teams will meet again in a rematch at the Washington Avenue Armory Saturday night.
