Four North Stars in NAHL All-Star Event
November 3, 2010 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Traverse City North Stars News Release
TRAVERSE CITY - A quartet of Traverse City North Stars will suit up for the North American Hockey League Top Prospects three-day all-star event, slated for Dec. 5-7 at the Iorio Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass., the league announced Wednesday.
Forward Kelin Ainsworth, defenseman Travis White, goaltender Tyler Marble, and head coach/GM Anthony Palumbo were selected for the annual affair, formerly held in Ann Arbor.
For White (Sterling Hts., MI/TC North Stars), it marks a third straight all-star event selection. The Stars captain has also landed on the All-North Division team following each of the past two campaigns. White is enjoying his most productive season offensively in 2010-11, with a goal and 12 assists through 14 games, which also includes a league-high 10 powerplay assists.
Ainsworth (Thunder Bay, ONT/TC North Stars) and Marble (Howell, MI/TC North Stars) are both Lake Superior State commits, and will be playing in their first NAHL all-star event. Ainsworth has a goal to go with assists on five others, while Marble is 7-3-1 with a 2.36 goals-against average and .916 save percentage this season.
Palumbo, who has compiled a 107-68-25 (.611) record in his three-plus years behind the Stars bench, will join Janesville coach Dane Litke in leading the North Division contingent, dubbed 'Team Miller'.
To recognize four of the NAHL's prominent alumni, the Top Prospects Tournament teams are named Team Miller (after Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, who played in the NAHL as a member of the Soo Indians before starring at Michigan State); Team Rafalski (after Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Rafalski, formerly of the NAHL's Melvindale Blades); Team Legwand (after Nashville Predators forward David Legwand, who skated with the NAHL's Compuware Ambassadors); and Team Weight (after New York Islanders forward Doug Weight, who developed in the NAHL as a member of the Bloomfield Jets).
The Top Prospects Tournament will also feature the third North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) event of the season, in which all Midget Major and Midget Minor teams will compete from Dec. 3-6 at both the Iorio Ice Arena and Foxboro Sports Center in Foxboro, Mass.
