ATLANTA (June 3, 2003) - Beat goalkeeper Briana Scurry, forward Maribel Dominguez, midfielder Homare Sawa and defender Sharolta Nonen were today named starters in the 2003 Hyundai WUSA All-Star Game in Cary, NC, on June 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Beat Head Coach Tom Stone will lead the international stars in the game, while Freedom coach Jim Gabarra will lead the American stars. The game is being televised live on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m.

The WUSA's inaugural All-Star game took place in the fall of 2002 in Portland, Oregon, with each team split by North and South. The game took place following the 2002 season and Atlanta's Briana Scurry, Charmaine Hooper, Homare Sawa and Kylie Bivens represented the South All-Stars, who won the game 6-1. Fans, WUSA coaches and general managers, and a media panel selected the 2003 All-Star starting lineups. Each group's total votes represented 33.3 percent of the total. Five additional reserve players will be announced on June 9. The All-Star head coaches, in conjunction with WUSA Commissioner Tony DiCicco, will select the All-Star reserves.

Scurry, Parlow and Bivens Called up for Training Camp in Preparation for Match Versus Ireland

Atlanta Beat players Briana Scurry, Cindy Parlow, and Kylie Bivens were today named to the 23-player roster for the U.S. Women's National Team training camp, which begins Tuesday, June 10, in preparation for a World Cup tune up match against Ireland. The match versus Ireland will be played at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, June 14 at 7 p.m. M.T. and will be televised live on ESPN2. U.S. Women's National Team Head Coach April Heinrichs will select 20 players for the final roster that will face Ireland on June 14.

For goalkeeper Briana Scurry and forward Cindy Parlow, this is the third National Team call-up in two months. It was the sixth time in Parlow's National Team career that she has recorded a hat trick. Parlow's four-goal performance led the U.S. to a 6-0 victory over England. Briana Scurry heads into training camp with 117 caps, 60 shutouts, and a win-loss-tie record of 93-8-9 for the U.S. Cindy Parlow goes in with 124 caps, 61 goals and 22 assists for the States.
