Montreal Impact News Release
MONTREAL - Three days from the opening of the transfer window, the Montreal Impact has released Panamanian forward Roberto Brown.
"We analyzed this situation before making a decision, knowing the contribution Roberto has made over the years," said Impact technical director Nick De Santis. "He has provided us with important minutes in the past and we thank him for his contribution to the club. However, since the beginning of the season, he was not living up to the expectations and we have to think about the future of this team. The recent struggles of the team cannot be blamed simply on the performances of Roberto Brown."
Brown, 32, was playing his 4th season in Montreal. In 2009, he helped the club win its third playoff championship and was named MVP of the championship final against Vancouver. He also contributed to the success of the team during the Nutrilite Canadian championship and the CONCACAF Champions League in 2008.
The Impact will play its next game on Wednesday against the Carolina RailHawks. Tickets are still available through the Admission box office (514-790-1245 / 1-800-361-4595 / admission.com), or at the Saputo Stadium ticket office.
