Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay Storm fans will get a chance to see a pair of former Storm players and a former Storm head coach face off this weekend when the AFL on NBC moves to Saturday, giving way to NASCAR's Daytona 500 on Sunday afternoon.

Tampa Bay viewers will receive the New York Dragons vs Chicago Rush contest at 3:00 pm on Saturday on News Channel 8. The Dragons feature former Storm kicker Pete Elezovic. Additionally, former Storm head coach Lary Kuharich directs the high-powered Dragons offense. He will be matching wits with former Storm defensive specialist Corey Sawyer, who now patrols the secondary of the Chicago Rush. Sawyer helped to lead the Storm to the 2003 ArenaBowl championship, teaming with Omarr Smith to form one of the league's top defensive secondaries.

In addition to seeing the familiar faces, Storm fans have a chance to preview a pair of future Storm opponents. The Storm host the New York Dragons on March 14 at the St. Pete Times Forum. The Storm then travel to Chicago to take on the Rush on April 11.

AFL on NBC games return to Sunday afternoons following this weekend's action. The Storm will take on the John Kaleo–led Austin Wranglers next Sunday at 3:00 pm. The contest will mark the home opener for the Wranglers, who are in Orlando this weekend to face the Predators.

Tampa Bay (1-0) continues its season-opening two-game home stand this Friday night when it takes on the Georgia Force at 7:30 pm in the St. Pete Times Forum. Tickets for the game are on sale now at the St. Pete Times Forum Box Office or any TicketMaster location. Tickets can also be purchased by calling (813) 301-6600 or online at www.tampabaystorm.com.
