
Former Smokies Prepare for MLB Playoffs

Sevierville, Tenn. - As the post-season begins for Major League Baseball, the Smokies will be well represented, as 18 former Smokies are on the rosters of the 8 contending teams.
The Cardinals, who won a league high 105 games in the regular season, have 7 former Smokies on the team. Game one starter Woody Williams, closer Jason Isringhausen and reserve catcher Yadier Molina figure to see the most playing time. Danny Haren, Chris Carpenter, Rick Ankiel, and Carmen Cali all helped St. Louis to its playoff berth.
Three former Smokies will be in uniform for the Los Angeles Dodgers: Shawn Green, Jason Werth, and Giovanni Cerrera.
Other former Smokies with post-season teams: Anaheim: Kelvim Escobar; Atlanta: Dewayne Wise; Boston: Sandy Martinez, Mike Timlin; Houston: Jeff Kent; Minnesota: Shannon Stewart; New York: Esteban Loaiza, Steve Karsay.
