Former Shocker Baseball Player Joins Stealth

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Stealth announced today that they have added former Wichita State University baseball great Phil Stephenson to their staff as Director of Special Projects/Sales Executive. Stephenson was named the 1982 NCAA College Baseball Player of the Year.

While at Wichita State University, Stephenson was named a consensus first team All-American at first base in 1981 and 1982; he was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the year in 1982, and held 13 NCAA records upon completion of his career at Wichita State. Stephenson graduated with a degree in Business Management.

Upon completion of his collegiate career, Stephenson played professional baseball for a number of teams including the San Diego Padres and the Chicago Cubs. Stephenson has also managed and been a hitting instructor in minor league baseball.

Stephenson will be responsible for selling corporate sponsorships, season tickets, individual game tickets and group tickets during the 2004 season. He will also take over the play-by-play duties of the Stealth, after serving as the color commentator for all Stealth home games since 2001.

Stephenson is originally from Guthrie, Oklahoma and attended Guthrie High School. While at Guthrie, he lettered four years in baseball, football three years, and basketball two years. In 1978, he was honored as a first team all-state baseball player in Oklahoma. Stephenson now resides in Wichita with his wife Kim and their four children: daughters, Ashley, Emily, Caroline, and son Bret.

Fans can secure the same great seats for all eight home games during the 2004 season for as little as $80. The Stealth will kickoff their fourth season in April 2004.
