November 13, 2009 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Philadelphia KiXX News Release
Philadelphia (Friday, November 13, 2009) - Excitement is truly surrounding the two-time Major Indoor Soccer League champion Philadelphia KiXX today, as the club made official the signing of 2004-05 MISL Most Valuable Player Adauto Neto. The Brazilian striker, highly regarded as one of the top players in the indoor game, joins the team as they embark upon their 14th season of play and first at their new home field at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University.
"Adauto Neto became available through the Xtreme Soccer League player dispersal," KiXX head coach Don D'Ambra said of the acquisition. "We were very pleased to be able to agree on terms to acquire the target forward, and I look forward to coaching Neto this upcoming season."
D'Ambra was quick to pinpoint certain aspects of his game that he knows will benefit Philadelphia this season.
"The game is much easier to coach when you have good players around you, and Neto is capable of being a difference maker in games," he continued. "He will enhance our offense tremendously as he brings a style of play that is very creative and effective."
Neto turned in another dominant season last year while playing with the New Jersey Ironmen, finishing third in the XSL with 46 points on a well-balanced 15 goals and 16 assists and was named to the All-League Team. The offensive juggernaut played his first two professional indoor seasons with the Cleveland Force before joining the Baltimore Blast for three years in 2005. For his 155-game career (including playoffs), he has amassed 127 goals and 88 assists.
"I am happy to be coming to Philadelphia," Neto said of the signing. "There is a nice mixture of young and veteran players here, and I look forward to working hard for my team on the field and with the development of some of the younger guys. I promise to always give my best, and I am focused on helping our team win as many games as possible."
Winning has been a persistent characteristic of the University of Mobile graduate over his six-year career. The three-time NAIA Division 1 All-American already has a pair of MISL titles under his belt, both with the Blast, and he helped bring the Ironmen within a single game of a championship last season. Neto has also been able to adapt his indoor skills back to the outdoor platform, as he recently signed with Crystal Palace Baltimore of USL-2 for its upcoming season next spring.
Neto and the Philadelphia KiXX will open their 2009-10 season this Sunday, November 15th, with a road contest against La Raza de Monterrey. The team will play their historic first game at the Liacouras Center on Saturday, January 9th, when they host the Rockford Rampage at 7:00 p.m. Season and group ticket packages for the KiXX are available now by calling 1-888-888-KiXX.
