Former Jayhawk Rejoins Wild

February 16, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Wichita Wild News Release

The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) has added two more weapons to the offensive side of the ball for the 2010 season. Wide receiver John Randle is a familiar face to Wichita football fans as he starred at Southeast High before heading to the University of Kansas. The Wild also signed Edgar Givens Jr. to play Wide receiver for the squad.

Randle rejoins the Wild after taking the 2009 season off from football. Randle played for the Wild during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Randle finished his collegiate career at Southern Illinois as he played for the Salukis in 2005 and 2006. As a senior, Randle led the team in rushing with 201 carries for 1,074 yards and 11 TD's. He also caught 29 passes for 272 yards and 2 TD's. As a junior in 2005, Randle was named to the Gateway Conference All-Newcomer team and was SIU's second leading rusher with 489 yards and four touchdowns.

Randle's collegiate career started at the University of Kansas. In 2004 Randle led the Jayhawks in rushing with 540 yards. He also caught 35 passes for 274 yards and led KU in scoring with nine touchdowns - the biggest of which was a 43-yard highlight-reel run against Kansas State that helped end the Wildcats' 11-year win streak over KU.

During his freshman season in 2003, Randle's diverse skill set emerged as he played both offense and defense, and was awarded the Don Fambrough Award -- an award given annually to the team's most unselfish player. He also earned honorable mention Big 12 honors.

Randle attended Southeast High School in Wichita, where he was listed as the No. 2 overall player in the state of Kansas by Mo-KanFootball.com, and rushed for over 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior.

Givens played at the University of Central Missouri in 2007 and 2008 where he was a two-time letterman. He helped lead the team to a 7-4 record each year, while he majored in physical education.

In 2006 Givens played at Southwest Mississippi Community College where he led the team to an 8-3 record, and was an All Conference selection as a sophomore. Givens was also named a pre-season All American prior to the 2006 season. As a freshman at SMCC, Givens received an All Conference selection as the Bears went 7-4.

Givens attended High School at New Madrid County Central in Missouri, and led his team to a 2nd place finish in state during 2002.

The Wild open the 2010 season at home on Friday, February 26 at 7:05 PM. Single game tickets are currently on sale. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the Hartman Arena Box Office at 316-927-3999 or going online to www.stage1tickets.com. Tickets start at just $5. The 2009 Wild finished with a 10-7 record and were crowned the Indoor Football League's Central Division Champions.
