Casper, WY - The former Casper Rockies' player Ryan Shealy is hitting his stride for the Kansas City Royals. The 2002 Pioneer League All-Star and MVP, is already making an impact with his new team while serving as the Royals' regular first baseman.
The Colorado Rockies sent Shealy and Scott Dohmann to the Royals as part of a trade when they acquired pitchers Jeremy Affeldt and Denny Bautista. Shealy hit his first homerun for the Royals when he hit the third of his career on August 6th when the Royals were playing the Minnesota Twins.
Shealy played in Casper during the 2002 season. He finished his inaugural campaign with a .368 average in 69 games with 85 hits, 19 home runs and 70 RBI. Shealy led the league that season in total bases (165), home runs (19), slugging percentage (.714) and on base percentage (.497).
